Fandom Sports Media Corp. (CSE: FDM) is a company that has been on radar for a while now, as they have been developing and evolving the technology for their flagship sports app.
The app was initially launched for the iOS platform back in October and they plan on a launch for the Android launch in Q1 2018.
This is big news as unbeknownst to most people, Android has 85% of the worldwide market share and when their app is launched for Android, that opens up a whole new market for their product.
About the App
The FDM app, engages passionate fans through its social interaction, it allows fans to interact with each other (pump, dump, share, compare and trash talk) in real time.
The app has a unique “argument engine” technology which is the world’s first mobile sports-centric social media resolution platform that measures and scores opinionated dialogue and establishes a consensus.
These ‘FanFight’ arguments are fueled by the earning, winning and wagering of ‘FanCoins’. The “FanCoins” unlock opportunities to earn status on the app as well as redeem for prizes and FanDom “swag”.
The info provides from the user interaction provides valuable (i.e. monetizable) meta data of the users behaviour.
The digital footprint is supported by Blockchain enabled app economy in partnership with an industry leading ‘Hyperledger’ technology provider.
The app primarily relies on fan/user-generated content, but also have the scalability for company and athlete generated content in the future. They recently signed Former NFL and back-to-back SuperBowl Champion, Byron Chamberlain as a Brand Ambassador who will supply custom content, activate his social media following and expanding FDM’s professional athlete on-boarding initiatives.
Marketing / Sponsorship
FDM also gets their name out there via a Fandom radio show on Dash Radio, which allows listeners to interact (vote, discuss and debate topics covered on the show) in real time with the program.
FDM is also one of the primary sponsors for James Duthie’s (also an investor) hockey-focused podcast, and this allows FDM to reach a Hockey specific market. Management believes that it can replicate this concept via other similar digital radio and alternative media outlets to grow the brand.
Another unique perspective is that the app is a destination platform that fans can use during and after televised or live sporting events to interact with other fans, and potentially sports personalities and brand.

The President & CEO Henri Holm, was the former SVP for Rovio entertainment and oversaw the development and growth of the highly successful Angry Birds. He has a strong team with background in app / game developments, marketing, PR, entertainment, digital media, capital markets and sports personalities.

The app is free to download, but there are multiple potential revenue streams, once they build up an user base, with many leading back to some form or method of advertising / sponsorship or even transitioning into a Freemium model
The real big value add of this app is the capturing the meta data generated by the user behavior. Based on the results from FanFights and accumulation of FanCoins, it allows the advertisers to target towards their key demographic, region, age, sex, sports teams, leagues etc.
